Social Marketing Sites: Places to connect with others in the therapeutic and healthcare communities
Social Marketing is a tool that therapists and healthcare have to use with caution due to the nature of confidentiality and dual relationship.
However, some creative and talented folks are discovering ways to use social marketing sites to help therapists and healthcare professionals reach each other.
LinkedIn
New networking groups spring up weekly on LinkedIn.com. Here are a few that may be worth joining.
Twitter
Twitter is a great way to manage a lot of connections with a little effort. If you are promoting a book or class, it can be a great way to
develop a following. As a therapist, you're not going to "tweet" about yourself, but you may provide a weekly tweet that reminds followers of self-care, affirmations, relationship tools and the like.
Naymz
Naymz is a forum, similar to LinkedIn. To use the best of their features, you have to pay $30/month, so most people stick with LinkedIn.
facebook and myspace
While a lot of businesses use these social marketing sites to promote products and services, the boundaries we maintain in our profession make it difficult to use these tools
because the emphasis is truly SOCIAL. Still, if you keep all of your posts strictly professional, don't "friend" your actual friends, and make sure that your
personal information is limited, you may find these free resources a good way to connect.
Social Marketing sites are constantly evolving. As you discover additional sites to add to this list, please email the links, and we will post them.
